All About Ayurveda, Viveda and Our Friends
Translated from Sanskrit ‘Ayu’ means life and ‘Veda’ means science or knowledge making Ayurveda means the science of life and the more you learn about it the more you realize just how true that truly is. Ayurveda has been around for thousands of years, it is one of the oldest form of medicines that is still being not only used, but actually still growing significantly during these modern times.
Ayurveda is all about living in harmony/balance with the world around us. Here at Viveda we call Ayurveda simply complicated, because at its core its very simple. Ayurveda is all about the simple knowledge that everything in the world, humans, animals, trees, desk, planes and so on, are made up of the 5 elements; Air, Earth, Water, Fire and Ether (Space). Going further Ayurveda knows that for all creatures that are alive we can use those 5 elements to create three distinctive body types or Dosha as they are called. Those three are Vata (relates to Air and Ether, Kapha (relates to Water and Earth) as well as Pita (relates to Fire with some Water).
So at its core it is a very simple way of looking at the world, but it can quickly become very complicated because of all the variables in our busy busy life. Ayurveda is here to help manage and balance all of these variables that we inevitably run into on a regular basis. This could be as simple as putting a cold compress on your forehead after being in the hot sun all day, or as complex as doing a daily practice because of the ongoing stress that life brings.
Ayurveda is a preventive medicine, which means that our aim is to be proactive when it comes to our health. While it is not always possible to predict future illnesses of course, we can manage anything that comes up if we are already well balanced.
There is allot more knowledge so check back with us for new articles or even just email us to ask us what we should post next or what questions we can answer that you may have.
- How Many People Use Ayurveda in India 75%
Nearly everyone grows up with some form of Ayurveda in their household, especially in the countryside. It is just a way of life for them.
- How Often Can Ayurveda Help 100%
While Ayurveda is more effective as a preventive medicine, it can always help because it works really well in conjunction with other medicines.

Message from Sebastian
I have learned that one of the reasons Ayurveda is so great is because it has a big picture mentality, its not about that one issue or symptom, but the body and mind as a whole. While Ayurveda cant solve everything I am constantly amazed about how much it can help us with.

Supporting A Balanced Life

Our Mission
Our goal is like Ayurveda, it is simply complicated. We simply want people to learn about how powerful Ayurveda can be used as a tool to manage with the completely crazy and hectic world we all live in. We don’t think that Ayurveda is the end all be all of medicines though, we believe that Ayurveda in conjunction with everything else that the world and its history has to offer us is more then enough to live a healthy and happy life. The hard part is finding what works for each of us on a individual level, since we are all so different.
- How Often are There Side Effects 20%
The side effects that you notice with Ayurveda are not so much side effects but what we call ‘past’ effects. The reason is because when we are re-balancing ourselves it usually brings up old thoughts, feelings, gas or even dietary restrictions until we are balanced again.

Is Viveda Commited to Helping?
When Viveda came into business nearly 10 years ago, it was really just an accident. Sebastian Peralta did his training for personal reasons more then professional. But when he returned to Ottawa he had an overwhelming interest from people wanting to experience and learn more of what Ayurveda can do for us.
Viveda began as just a way to give a select people some Ayurvedic treatments. Unsurprisingly within a year we were able to turn it into a full time business that had great potential for growth. We have been able to add a number of treatments and have been expanding by working at more and more international retreats run by different people which means our network is becoming global.
We are thrilled to have been able to see an amazing growth in Ayurvedic interest from people here in the west. We realized with our first clients that a more holistic approach may not solve the problem as quickly but it will be a much more effective solution towards long term health and as the icing on the cake with very little to no side effects or complications.
During this time we also created a line of spices that are all made using the knowledge of Ayurveda. This means we have the right spice blend for you no matter who you are or what your aggravation is.
We are continuing to expand at all times (yes even during covid). We are currently making our own oils so we can have 100% trust in the products that we use for our treatments. While we do not have proper bottles or labels yet to sell the oil on its own we are enjoying using it during our treatments.

My Message to You!
As we all learn, at some point in our life, life puts us on a winding path and we may never see when the next turn or challenge will happen.
Remember that the path while long and ardous is part of the journey that is life. Savor every moment of it and be aware that every new bend will show you something you have never seen before if you are ready to notice it.
I would love the opportunity to help show you what I have experienced through Ayurveda and how we can both help each other down the path 🙂
Hi there, my name is Sebastian Peralta and I grew up in an alternative lifestyle home, my mother was a painter and father a photographer when I was born. But as life progressed and changed my mother became a spiritual teacher so she could help people learn and grow, and my father took over the family business and became a savvy businessman in the Canadian language industry.
While growing up my friends went to church or had a family gathering every Sunday morning, but me and my brother would go to childrens yoga instead. This was when Ayurveda started to appear in my life, because I had to start taking Ayurvedic medicine, doing breath exercises and even getting regular massages at the age of 10 years old. And as a child I hated every moment of it.
Years later, after high school I was given the opportunity to go do my level one Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training in New Mexico. When I returned I got a job at a yoga studio as a receptionist, this was so I could get an intro into the business aspect of the yoga world in Ottawa. I soon realized that the yoga market in Ottawa was completely over saturated and you had to be very competitive to make a decent life for yourself. During this time I also did some trainings for Yin Yoga, Childrens Yoga and Thai Massage.
So I decided not to pursue becoming only a yoga teacher but also something more. That lead me to see a school in India that teaches foreigners about Ayurveda, and it was on the beach so I decided to continue my schooling a little further from home. I soon learned about Ayurvedic treatments, consultations and how it works behind the scenes of an Ayurvedic school/clinic. I was able to do this by not only going to school but also actually receiving the treatments, talking to Ayurvedic doctors and even going to local Ayurvedic hospitals to diagnose patients.
Since then I have founded Viveda and continue to grow with the knowledge I have built from my trainings and experiences. But I do not want to stop learning new things about Ayurveda or what life can offer me.
Our Friends
These are all of our friends! People we work with, people we see ourselves for treatments or just people we think are cool cats and could be useful for someone out there.
